BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Process Engineer, AME in Zelienople, Pennsylvania

BD Urology & Critical Care is looking for a talented Process Engineer to support new product development and commercialization at our BD Manufacturing site in Zelienople, Pennsylvania.

The Advance Manufacturing Process Development Engineer provides engineering leadership and support for the process development and design transfer of new products and line extensions for Urological and Target Temperature Management Medical Devices. Collaborate on project teams to develop high quality, high reliability and highly manufacturable products for BD Urological and Critical Care.

  • Thoroughly evaluate requirements for new products in terms of the test method, process capability and relationship to the customer needs.

  • Participate on new product introduction projects to concurrently develop assembly methods, tooling, equipment and processes while providing influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization.

  • Provide engineering leadership to ensure successful knowledge transfer of processes to the receiving facility.

  • Partner with NPD teams and utilize lean principles to create imaginative, thorough and practical technical solutions for product assembly that are consistent with organization objectives.

  • Collaborate with high volume facilities to ensure the solutions for product assembly meet organization objectives for metrics such as product cost, labor time, yield, lead time and other production and quality metrics.

  • Create equipment specifications to procure and integrate systems that will deliver highly capable processes, cost effective lean tooling and equipment.

  • Create standardized work charts, work combination tables and process maps that result in an optimized production system and extended value stream.

  • Lead development activities through interactions beyond work group with frequent management interactions to achieve business commitments including attainment of Safety, Quality, Service, Project Schedule and Cost goals.

  • Follow established procedures to perform and lead improvement initiatives for detailed, accurate, and compliant engineering documentation for Master Validation Plans, pFMEA, Equipment Installation, Characterization, Qualification and Validation and End Item Product Specifications.

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling in collaboration with receiving manufacturing facility.

  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.

  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Engineering and problem-solving tools: Minitab, Six Sigma, DOE, GR&R, CAPA, CAD, DMAIC

  • Technical writing, communication and teamwork.

  • At least 3 years of Manufacturing Industry experience

  • Able and willing to travel as needed, up to 40% of time to facilities in the US and suppliers worldwide.

  • BS in Engineering or related scientific/technical discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in consumer/medical manufacturing or process development is needed to perform this job. History of problem solving and successful project completion

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk or hear. The employee will sometimes be required to move around in manufacturing facility. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Exposure to manufacturing environment (i.e. noise, minimal heat and some chemical fume exposure), laboratory, and hospital settings.
