Job Description Summary
The Business Procurement Analyst/ Partner—Indirect and Supply Chain is a strategic business partner focused on providing insight and support to both the Indirect Category Directors and the Supply Chain Procurement Team. This strategic role serves as a key enabler for the success of all Corporate Functional Areas, including focused support for Global Supply Chain, through internal and external intelligence, metrics and data visibility, fact packs, and analytics across the full Procurement and Business Agenda.
The Business Procurement Analyst/Partner—Indirect and Supply Chain engages the appropriate Global Procurement resources and stakeholders while leveraging the appropriate resources available from the overall organization. The Business Procurement Analyst/Partner—Indirect and Supply Chain is responsible for providing actionable insights from the reporting, data intelligence and analytics associated with the assigned Corporate Functions and Global Supply Chain organizations.
The associate in this role works across Procurement, Corporate Functions, and Global Supply Chain , and leverages strong business acumen and analytical capability to integrate sourcing and business strategies to identify and pull through the opportunities at a Corporate Function, Business Unit and Segment level. The Business Procurement Analyst/Partner—Indirect and Supply Chain supports and manages reporting and monitoring of critical KDGs and other metrics for Indirect categories of spend across the business.
In support of Supply Chain Procurement , the Business Procurement Analyst—Indirect and Supply Chain will support regional Procurement Managers and Global Category Managers to develop, execute and sustain Global Transportation and Warehousing category strategies across BD’s supply chain spend that reduce cost, ensure continuity of supply, and meet BD’s quality requirements by providing robust analytics for spend/contract governance and supplier management.
The Business Procurement Analyst/Partner—Indirect and Supply Chain will participate in a Community of Practice with their Segment peers and the Advanced Analytics Analysts and Director to develop a consistent engagement and service delivery model, create a Segment/Functions dashboard for KDGs and other key program deliverables, metrics and share best practices.
80% - Opportunity Identification
Generating, evaluating and reporting of opportunities using Spend and Savings Procurement systems (Sievo).
Ensure accurate and complete mapping of spend/savings projections through FY25 by category, regions, BUs, Functions and key suppliers and flag key opportunities
Support spend analytics efforts to accurately classify BD’s Indirect spend including Transportation and Warehousing in our Sievo spend analytics tool. Experience with spend analytics tools, methodologies and spend governance in a large, multi-ERP setting is desirable.
Category Strategy, Benchmarking / Should Cost Modeling: Support transportation and warehousing category strategy development / help support the execution of RFPs. Gather and organize external transportation and warehousing benchmarks by region and commodity. Partner with supply chain and category teams to ensure benchmarks are incorporated into category strategies as appropriate. Knowledge and experience with tools such as Xeneta, Drewry, TAC index, DAT solutions or Chainalytics are desirable.
Sourcing: Support the execution of ad hoc bids and/or RFQ’s for new transportation /warehousing business. Supplier Intelligence —support the identification of suppliers with capabilities to support BD’s network and strategy. Knowledge and experience on how to calculate small parcel, FTL, LTL, Heavyweight Air and Ocean price quotes / experience with e-sourcing tools and bid analysis across each of these commodities is highly desirable.
Supplier Relationship Management: Partner with CMs/PMs and incumbent suppliers within our preferred network to rebalance existing transportation business to optimize our cost profile and overall customer experience leveraging value plans. Knowledge and experience with executing SRM programs with key suppliers is desirable.
Risk Management: Support the continual development and implementation of risk management efforts across BD’s supply base across 12-16 risk domains including single / sole source supplier risk, financial solvency, pandemic preparedness, Quality risks, etc. Knowledge and experience in managing supplier risks across multiple risk domains is desirable.
Analyze WAPT opportunities and follow key actions to be taken to improve WAPT for Indirect spend across Corporate Functions and Segments/Businesses
Net Promoter survey information and analysis to develop a targeted action plan identifying who and how to have a focused/targeted effort to improve key stakeholders that question GP value at a Corporate Function level
Analyzing data from various sources with the purpose of making conclusions and actionable insights
20% - Reporting
Dashboards - Savings (expense, capital, value), Supplier Risk Program, SRM, R&D programs. All dimensions (Segment/BU/Functions/Regions)
Supplier Performance: Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement stakeholders to develop supplier performance metrics and data methodologies to monitor and remediate supplier performance issues through continuous improvement programs. Work closely with internal stakeholders and large suppliers to develop supplier performance “playbooks” that empower the business to easily navigate supply chain and supplier organizations to quickly address challenges as they arise. Experience in managing performance KPIs through supply chain control tower or electronic data feeds > optimized supplier performance metrics is desirable.
Working Capital Programs: Track and monitor cash preservation initiatives (payment terms, Incoterms, inventory reduction, lead times)
Contract Compliance: Monitor supplier agreements, under guidance of regional procurement and global category managers. Assist in driving global contract coverage and a regular review of key contracts for all key suppliers. Knowledge and experience of Icertis or other contract tools is desirable. Knowledge and experience with MSAs, SOWs, tariffs and contracting experience across supply chain categories is desirable.
Rate Management: Support the communication and accurate application of rates and contracts with BD’s 3rd party freight payment company. Support the management of internal contract management tool with analytics. Assist to drive continuous improvement actions into underlying BD and supplier processes to improve freight audit metrics. Knowledge and experience of freight audit standards and processes is desirable.
Fuel Index Management: Gather Fuel index data and calculate monthly/ quarterly fuel adjustments according to BD’s fuel methodology. Communicate to internal stakeholders and external suppliers on a monthly basis.
Producing and highlighting trends in data & performance analysis
Look for standardization in reporting and ways to look at data
Ensuring standardization in processes performed (Forecast/Demand Analysis, Working Capital, Strategic Planning) and working as a Community of Practice to continuously improve the service levels (KPI’s)
Escalating risks & suggesting improvements
We are looking for a person with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in Transportation/Warehousing procurement (Over the Road, Small Parcel, Warehousing, Air and Ocean categories). Knowledge of markets, terminology and operating standards.
Additionally, we would be looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, accounting, or a related field
Fluent English (additional Language skills are of benefit)
Experience working in a large multi-cultural corporate environment with a strong respect for the value of diverse perspectives
Strong desire to develop and improve their supply chain procurement and category domain knowledge
Ability to be a self-starter in a virtual / global work environment supporting stakeholders across many time zones with a strong sense of internal customer service

Good knowledge of reporting tools (Hyperion, BW SAP, BPC SAP, etc.) is an advantage
