Job Description

The Quality Calibration Technician must have experience working in an ISO Certified environment in the Medical device or similar regulated Industry. Provides support to the Site Senior Quality Assurance Manager in the generation and execution of all calibration and PM activities at the Davol, Woburn, MA. manufacturing facility. In addition to this, the Quality Calibration Technician is responsible for the maintenance and scheduling of calibration activities at Davol-Woburn site performed by outside contractors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Negotiate pricing and service with external calibration supplier.

  • Develop and monitor Calibration and Preventative Maintenance budget.

  • Recommend and implement increases in calibration program capability and efficiencies.

  • Performs equipment calibration

  • Perform and generates tooling certification.

  • With the use of a computer, generates the schedule of the monthly calibration to be executed by Bard personnel or outside contractors.

  • Performs the verification of calibrations performed and makes sure that the measurements performed by contractors or other employees are properly reviewed.

  • Computer train other calibration technicians/preventive maintenance technicians in the use of computer software to manage the schedule and execution of calibrations and preventive maintenance activities (e.g. CALman Calibration System).

  • Assures that product documentation and traceability requirements of calibration records are properly maintained.

  • Monitors compliance to ISO and QSR

  • Assures proper tools and equipment are available and certified to perform calibration functions

  • Coordinate with external contractors for the schedule of calibrations

  • Assures training has been completed prior to performing any task

  • Uses the required clothes, personal and security protective equipment according to the requirements of its operation

  • Complies with the cGMP’s, Quality Standards and established policies and/or procedures

  • Executes other duties assigned by Manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills

  • Must follow procedures / ability to revise and update procedures when necessary

  • Must possess accurate record keeping of Calibrations, Inspections and Test Data

  • Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Must be a positive and teamwork oriented individual

  • Experience using Calibration planning and tracking software, such as CALman.

  • Training in GDT

Education and/or Experience:

  • Instrumentation Associate, Associate Degree in Engineering or Science required, or possesses a minimum of five (5) years’ documented experience in a similar technical position or equivalence.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Science desirable

Work Environment:

  • Workweek is 40 hours with additional/variable hours for specific work periods and projects. Specific work days and hours are flexible and may change with advance notice

  • The nature of the work requires occasional exposure to chemicals, noise. Occasional exposure to machinery and non-ionizing radiation.
