Reporting to the Peripheral Intervention (“PI”) Contracts Manager, this position facilitates the Contracting Lifecycle process for the Business Unit and, where applicable, across multiple US Business Units for both consumable and capital products from bid through approvals, execution, implementation, and contract compliance.

As a member of the PI Contracts team, the Contract Consultant will contribute to the formalized process of a new Contracting capability within the CoE, combining the strengths and best practices of the legacy BD and Bard companies. Through partnership and collaboration within Commercial Operations, the Health Systems sales team, the Strategic Customer Group, Commercial Integrators, cross functional Business Partners and Legal, this role supports US Region policies, processes and governance in the development of contracts to ensure the effective implementation of critical contract activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Project manage the BD RFI/RFP/contract process.

  • Responsible for meeting financial impacting bid submission deadlines.

  • Work directly with various Sales partners, Legal and Business Units to ensure contract terms are negotiated in accordance with established BD standard Ts&Cs policies and procedures, as well as legal and regulatory requirements. Weighs contract risk to the businesses and provides solutions for successful contract awards.

  • Legal liaison for contract negotiations including crafting new business terms for review and partnering with Legal to secure appropriate legal provisions.

  • Manage all phases of BDI contracts lifecycle including planning, drafting/redlining, execution, amendment, extension and retirement.

  • Provides direction to appropriate Commercial Operations teams for successful contract launches and life cycle management.

  • Advises Contract Operations in order to facilitate prompt responses to contract issues, such as membership and administration fee questions received directly from the customer/member.

  • Subject matter expert in contract compliance, both tracking and reporting.

  • Maintain high levels of responsiveness, timeliness, and accuracy in contract dispute resolutions.

  • Follows established Desktop Procedures.

  • Engages with Business Unit as a liaison regarding product launches or changes. Effectively communicate Business Unit updates to various Sales partners, team members and Commercial Operations colleagues.

  • Takes personal accountability for one's own decisions, despite potential for personal discomfort and elevates risk, as appropriate.

  • Other projects, as assigned.

Education

  • BA/BS in Business Administration/Finance or other related field

  • 2+ years contracts administration and/or healthcare experience, preferred

Skills

  • Strong analytical problem solver with business acumen

  • Proven ability to quickly establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of organization.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. Antitrust laws and Sarbanes Oxley

  • Demonstrated customer centricity skills

  • Ability to excel in a cross-functional, complex team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output

  • Manage multiple requests, plan work in real time and through shifting responsibilities

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required

  • Ability to make decisions within short time periods and minimal supervision

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, required

  • Travel 5%-10% required
