Job Description SummaryThe WW Market Development Manager, Microbiology Associate is directly responsible upstream marketing activities for the microbiology platform. These activities include developing a strategy for the microbiology platform and its connection to other DS and BDX products and services. Develop fact based business plans rooted in customer and market intelligence to develop next generation product and service, as well as innovation and business development activities. Key to these activities are active engagement with DS functions (R&D, Regulatory, Ops, Quality, Medical …), regional engagements and constant connection with customer trends and needs. In this capacity the Market Development Manager will need to lead the marketing activities for GPDS and market research, and customer requirements for GPDS process.
Customer/market research, forecasting and financial analysis to help managers identify business opportunities, product investment decisions, define and drive product initiatives from concept through commercial launch, and support the stage/gate process with R&D.
Provide market research and analytics to identify global market opportunities, develop, implement and manage solutions, and provide subject matter expertise in diagnostic product and informatics development.
Provide research to assess financial implications, including profitability and viability, for complex product/market portfolios or segments.
Assist with drive product launch. Support business responsibilities in Product Development processes such as Stage-Gate. Understand product lifecycle processes and support sustainable economic success for complex product/market portfolios or segments through research and analytics. Will work in an FDA, regulated environment for product development process.
Participate on cross-functional teams with members in sales, manufacturing, field operations, R&D, Quality, regulatory, clinical, downstream marketing and user experience design to achieve economic success. Work closely with International downstream product managers to provide analytics support during the release transition.
Serve as clinical workflow/best practice subject matter expert for Micro product functions, benefits, values, competitive differentiators. Develop deep understanding of competitive landscape and product offerings, including understanding how global product/solution/system marketing plan will impact company and current and potential competitors; Drive clinical understanding in collection of Global Voice of Customer (VOC), cultivating Key Opinion Leader (KOL), including: Collect feasibility and R&D requirement data around product use from a global end users clinical perspective and differentiating factors for regional markets; Determining if regional/global KOL fits “established leader” versus “up and coming innovator” categories;
Work closely with Healthcare Economics team to develop models and programs that will drive primary demand for our solutions.
Support the Global Product Development System (GPDS) process as a core team member (CTM). Core team activities will include coordinating with Market Research team on VOC initiatives and providing marketing leadership to the core team to develop a customer focused approach to product development.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
BA/BS degree required, preferably within a technical area of focus; Four year scientific, business, or engineering degree preferred. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in worldwide marketing and/or product management in life science companies with a focus on platform development and commercial launch.
Demonstrated skills in development and execution of successful new product launch plans that have provided rapid, global, market penetration and uptake in fast moving, competitive markets.
