Job Description SummaryThe Software Engineer I will be a part of BD's Women’s Health & Cancer Product Engineering team and dedicated to the development, deployment and maintenance of software applications and tools for medical diagnostic instruments. Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with senior level engineer to specify, plan, design, develop, test and support software components as assigned

  • Responsible for implementation of new software component designs or enhancements to existing software tools and software products; assists in the implementation of more complex subsystems and systems

  • Collaborates with other application and instrument development teams to develop and utilize common tools and shared components

  • Suggests improvements or adaptations to existing methods or processes to improve productivity.

  • Assists in the establishment and clarification of specifications for assigned work

  • Assists in the design direction or modifications of software system components

  • Works with team leadership to establish necessary test specification and requirements for software product validation of designs.

  • Participates in decisions on scope of work, duration of tasks, and determination of requirements

  • Troubleshoot/debug issues within existing systems and implements modifications to resolve issues

  • Participate in technical design reviews and code inspections

  • Ensures adherence to BDDS development policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Requires a BS degree preferably Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related Engineering discipline

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Windows development environment utilizing MS Visual Studio and MS TFS

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience designing and implementing with C#/.Net

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with MS SQL Server and Entity Framework

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with design patterns such as MVC, MVVM

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in maintaining and programming UI with WPF

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience designing and implementing applications utilizing TCP/IP stack

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with software development of biomedical Instrumentation (FDA design control)

  • Requires a basic knowledge of principles of Cyber / Product Security applicable for software development

  • Requires a basic knowledge of principles of communicating with information’s systems such as LIS / HIS

  • Demonstrated understanding of multi-threaded software design and development

  • Demonstrated understanding of electro-opto-mechanical instruments/modules

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential

  • Demonstrated understanding of development in a process oriented/regulated environment and adhering to a quality management system

  • A self-starter who work with persistence and attention to detail
