BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) International Transportation Supervisor in Sparks, Maryland
Job Description Summary
This position interfaces with BD affiliates, Freight Forwarders, DCs and Plants, resolves discrepancies and proactively identifies improvement opportunities. Monitors, measure, and reports key performance Indicators on adherence to regulations and procedures in the conduct of export.
Supervisor must communicate with individuals at different levels in the organization. He/She works with internal departments to maintain and adjust a schedule for consistent process flow for documentation. This is needful and essential in order to ensure on time delivery and processing for all International BD Regions and Customers.
Job duties may include but are not limited to:
Manage International Shipments.
Address concerns related to quality and accuracy of shipments
Management of delivery, shipment creation in SAP, and processing for International Shipments.
Proactive in coordinating forwarder services and necessary bookings.
Maintain a weekly schedule of daily shipments.
Help to maintain internal BD Inquires for orders or shipments.
Customer service for BD Regions via email and phone calls.
Maintaining daily reports and communications concerning the status of shipments with BD Internal and External Customers.
Prepare Transportation documentation when needed.
Is adaptable and available to accept new assignments, or assist in other areas or departments, as required.
Collaborate with Global Transportation to ensure effective service from intercompany source sites and global logistics providers, this includes: service level agreements and metrics/reporting.
Collaborate with Global Transportation, Business and Functional teams in region and countries to improve international and local delivery performance, supply chain quality and supply chain cost.
Provide back-up support to Transportation Department as required.
Lead a team of 3-4 people.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Adept at setting priorities, meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks. Proficiency in standard business computer applications.
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. A strong background in a related international/export role may be considered in lieu of education.
International Supply Chain Logistics experience preferably in a Medical Device or related industry (3-5 years minimum)
Prior experience in USDA, TSA and ISO 13485 Certification.
Demonstrated experience with SAP 6.0 (trouble shoot, variants, order management).
Thorough knowledge of all International modes of Transportation (Ocean, Air, Ground).
Hazardous Materials Certification (DOT, IATA and IMDG).
Working knowledge/understanding of Warehousing, and Shipping functions
Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and Warehouse/Transportation Management tools (WMS/TMS) preferred.
Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot problems and develop a plan of action to prevent delays in the organization's workflow.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook)
Self-Starter and internally motivated for continuous improvement.
Ability to work in a stress, complex environment, and have a high sense of urgency.
Able to work independently as well with others.
Must demonstrate BD Values, Customer focus, action/results orientation, strong communication skills, and ability to seek input and feedback from others.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including the capability to work across multiple functional areas to influence change or to achieve desired results
