BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Quality Systems Technician in Sandy, Utah
Job Description SummaryThe Quality Systems Technician is responsible to provide guidance, motivation, and support to production associates in regards to all Quality aspects in the manufacturing areas. This position will work closely with Coaches, Line Leads, and Quality Engineers to provide proactive quality support, as well as, investigate quality issues and process Non-conforming Material reports. Participate in all team meetings, activities, team building initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
Work with Manufacturing Coaches and CI Line Leads to document, contain, and disposition non-conforming material.
Lead RCA Level 1’s to determine correct Root Causes of defective and/or non-conforming material.
Perform routine verification of the Manufacturing areas to assure they are operating per their procedures and validated parameters, all documentation is complete and accurate and the areas are compliant to regulations and GMP.
Maintain a daily presence on the manufacturing floor proactively assisting manufacturing to ensure compliance to quality requirements.
Act as a mentor to production associates to develop a sound understanding of our quality plans. This should include helping associates understand the reason why and the importance of our sampling plans, adherence to GMPs, and proactive identification of QNs.
Perform inspections and tests as per the applicable SOPs, protocols, sampling plans, or QA Engineer direction.
Evaluate inspection methods for improvement opportunities, assist with creation of new inspection methods or other work instructions.
Train personnel on the operating procedures, inspection techniques, measuring devices, and sampling plans.
Work overtime as needed by the department. Work flexible hours as business needs required.
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 5S, blitzes, Staff Shift Start-up meeting, Department Shift Start-Up meetings, updating PVD boards, lean lite, KAS, etc.
Act as the first point of contact for Quality issues on the manufacturing floor. Escalate issues as necessary in an effective, timely, and appropriate manner to the appropriate individuals (i.e. peers, Quality Engineers, support teams and management).
Cross Train in all manufacturing departments in order to perform necessary quality functions for each department. Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma / GED required
Minimum three years of experience in quality control and inspection or in a related field
Effective written and oral communications skills (English), math skills, and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
Additional and Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Testing and measurement equipment experience preferred
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
Experience in a pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing environment is preferred
Supervisory/leadership experience is preferred
Continuous improvement experience preferred
