BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Global Product Manager, Immunology in San Jose, California

Job Description SummaryThe role is accountable for the achievement of key marketing segment and business goals for immunology applications across the BD Biosciences portfolio. Influences and contributes to the annual strategy through close work with sales regions, platform teams and the innovation and strategy function. Drives key application development, collaboration and co-development priorities for immunology workflows with applications R&D and market development teams. Provides significant input into product line-related business decisions and resource planning; plays a role in key projects/ initiatives, potentially leading project/initiative teams, including core teams and commercial teams to execute against go to market plans. Demonstrates marketing expertise through specific and advanced set of skills and applied knowledge of applications in the basic research, translational research and diagnostics markets. Will be accountable for influencing and driving worldwide commercial initiatives and programs well as planning for and tracking demand impact in established businesses. Will act as the liaison between global commercial teams and internal functional areas such as R&D applications, scientific affairs, and global marketing for applications related initiatives and activities.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes strategic plan with sales regions for establishing new business and opportunities in immunology research, including: identifying and/or driving collaboration/co-development opportunities, conducting market research and competitive analysis; defining product workflow solutions; developing and implementing a business case and plan

  • Contributes to annual strategic planning process – identifying new opportunities and informing/influencing strategy and product development priorities

  • Proactively and frequently communicates to management, R&D, marketing, sales, external customers and strategic partners in a clear concise manner regarding existing and new opportunities in the oncology and immune-oncology markets

  • Participates on cross-functional teams responsible for targeted business and market development projects

  • Will assume other strategic/tactical product management/marketing duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Responsible for working closely with global commercial organizations to update and develop tools, messaging and technical information for associated product lines and workflows

Job Specific Requirements:

  • On-site location in San Jose, CA

  • Global travel up to 30%

Qualifications

Required knowledge and experience:

  • BS in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of 10 yrs. in product management in a life science or diagnostics business, or related technical function

  • A strong understanding of research, applications and workflows in research and/or diagnostics environments

  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage the execution of projects or initiatives that drives new opportunities across a business and requires input from multiple functions

  • Demonstrated experience in diverse team environment, including coordination, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building skills

  • Strong communication and collaborative skills; ability to influence decisions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects)

Preferred knowledge and experience:

  • PhD in Biology or related technical field

  • Commercial experience in a diagnostics/therapeutic environment focused on immunology

  • Technical experience in immunology in life science research and/or diagnostics

  • Strong business acumen; MBA a plus

Proficient in:

  • Product positioning of product solutions and translating complex technology and/or science into simple marketing messages

  • New product development process, lifecycle management, market research and development of business plans for products and platforms
