BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Supply Chain Analyst in San Diego, California

Job Description SummaryThe Supply Chain Analyst acts as a key partner to the Procurement, Planning and Logistics/Distribution functions by providing support to monitor and execute current operational processes. This business partner conducts analysis and supports the execution with the goal of improving the organization’s Supply Chain within the Research Reagent multiple plant architecture. The Analyst uses his/her skills in database management, spreadsheet creation and analysis to improve customer service for BDB LSRR Business.

Job Description


  • Weekly review of all levels of materials in transition between San Diego and Hungary.

  • Review with Hungary planners for transferred materials requirements that need to be rebuilt

  • Pulling / updating data for monthly transfer database review

  • Ensure that transfer list files (restrictions and modifications) are kept up to date

  • Track and ensure that material Master data is updated

  • Weekly STO's for Shipments to Sparks, MD.

  • Notifying Marketing / Affiliates of batches labeled as “Made in Hungary”

  • Helps in the development of analytical tools for reporting

  • Gathers and interprets relevant data (costs, productivity, demand patterns, etc.)

  • Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions

  • Develops periodic performance reports and distributes them to stakeholders

  • Provides analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals

  • Performs detailed Supply Chain scenario analysis

  • Supports inventory analytics and review process

  • Collaborates with other BD business supply chain functions and regional partners to share and implement best practices

  • Regular and direct interface with internal customers (Operations, Finance, Sales, Customer Service) and external business partners (Suppliers, Freight Forwarders, Service Providers) to plan and execute agreed to priorities

  • Other duties as required.


  • Must have/develop proficiency in SAP or other similar enterprise business system; preferably in materials management and Transportation..

  • Able to effectively multitask responsibilities, solve problems and implement decisions effectively, involving the right people in the process.

  • Advanced computer skills, PC or Mac, and MS Office applications (Word & Excel). Specifically, must be able to compose documents, manipulate spreadsheets and create charts or graphs.

  • Excellent analytical skills, communication skills, and problem resolution skills to solve business conflicts.

  • Able to operate successfully, interacting, and interfacing with all levels of the organization

  • Experienced and/or advanced functional knowledge of manufacturing, shipping, customer service and supply chain processes and procedures is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment without supervision


  • Bachelor’s Degree (in Business, Operations, or other technical discipline) is preferred, or a relevant combination of work experience and education.

  • Minimum 2 year track record of proven results in a manufacturing, supply chain or complex project environment. .
