BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Supervisor, New Dye Development in San Diego, California
Job Description Summary
BD Biosciences, the leading provider of antibody reagents to the research immunology community, is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and organized Supervisor to contribute to our Life Science Research Reagent R&D team. Leading a product development team, this individual will be responsible for the development and release of new dyes to meet product commitments. Additionally, this role with be responsible for the development of automation workstreams and their implementation in various groups within R&D. This role requires in depth knowledge of flow cytometry, dyes/fluorochromes and instrumentation as well as an ability to guide direct reports to execute time-bound deliverables.
Responsible for delivery of dyes and reagents to support the new dye product portfolio
Design, analyze, and troubleshoot flow cytometry experiments to evaluate new dye candidates
Critically analyze and interpret data. Provide feedback and guidance to other teams based on the data.
Contribute to the development of automation workstreams
Implement use of automation workstreams in various teams in R&D
Lead, develop and engage associates
Represent R&D at cross-functional meetings
Managing multiple and varied projects with deliverables to multiple business functions
Strong sense of customer requirements
Promoting a safe work environment. Offer recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participate in addressing corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notify supervisor of all observed unsafe work practices.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a Master's Degree in Immunology or a related life science discipline with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong general laboratory skills.
Requires experience designing, performing, and analyzing flow cytometry experiments, preferably on BD flow cytometers (LSRII, LSRFortessa, Canto, Aria).
Strong foundation in multicolor flow and panel design.
Strong understanding of flow cytometry principles and instrumentation, hands on experience changing filters and detectors is preferred.
Experience with Flow Cytometry Data analysis (FACSDiva and FlowJo).
Experience implementing automation workflows for use in flow cytometry
Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative and fast paced environment
Demonstrated analytical problem solving.
Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
Developed organizational, time management, and planning skills to efficiently manage multiple projects.
Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred.
Requires occasional business travel.
