BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Senior Manager, Process Engineering in San Diego, California
Job Description Summary
Maintains, supports, and improves existing manufacturing processes. Includes preventive maintenance system, equipment calibration system, new equipment, IQ/OQ/PQ, etc. Maintains, support, and improves building systems (i.e. HVAC, DI Water, ESD room controls, etc.) Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering support of Manufacturing Factory Focus Teams. Develops 10 year capacity plan for facility. Provides support on some Site PMO projects. Manage successful completion of projects within boundaries of quality, time and budget. Based on significant technical expertise, reviews and approves complex design concepts. Provides technical direction to staff. Recognized as expert by peers and other personnel within the business. Display general understanding of theories/practices of a variety of disciplines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage a variety of complex issues in associated projects, plans and schedules project implementation.
Responsible for defining scope of work for project team.
Manage, identify, hire, develop and recognize technical staff;the team may include senior level engineers and technicians.
Provide technical direction.
Design new or improved products or process systems.
Review and approve technical feasibility of complex designconcepts and analysis of technologies that incorporate own areaof expertise as well as multiple disciplines.
Review and analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived andpossible applications justify expenditures. Recommendproposal to management for consideration and allocation offunds. Responsible for preparation of project cost estimates upto multi-million dollar range. Monitors all project expendituresand cost tracking.
Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for thestaff in accomplishing and documenting projects. Provides inputon overall engineering department policy.
Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering changerequests, system change forms, etc.) in order to secure projectrelease. This is a "technical approver" position.

Must be well versed in engineering disciplines.
Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices andprocess validation.
Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills,capable of analyzing and solving complex problems throughinnovative thought and experience.
Ability to design and implement in own area of expertise.
Be involved in at least one industry interest group
Have demonstrated effective supervisory skills.
Education and Experience
Required: B.S. Degree in Engineering Sciences or Industrial Technology, or significant related experience.
Preferred : Master's degree in related discipline
Experience : 10 – 12 years of engineering experience.
