Sirigen, Inc. is a subsidiary of BD Biosciences and produces polymeric reagents for use in Flow Cytometry and other biological applications.

We are looking for a Scientist I for our dye development team to support develop novel fluorescent dyes for use in Flow Cytometry. Individual will work within cross-functional teams to address unmet needs within the Sirigen dye portfolio. The responsibilities include synthesis, purifications, and analysis of fluorescent materials. The successful candidate will have experience with organic chemistry, analytical characterization, and macromolecule separations with excellent attention to detail and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize small molecule and macromolecule/polymers using reaction templates and SOPs

  • Support the analysis and development of synthetic procedures, purification methods, and analytical techniques.

  • Collate, analyze, and present findings and summaries in regular team meetings

  • Work with subject matter experts with scoping and planning experimental designs

  • Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participates in Environmental Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.

  • Other responsibilities or projects as assigned by reporting manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Successful candidate will possess a B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Life Science, minimum of 1-2 years of relevant industry experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

Assets:

  • Experience in organic synthesis or macromolecular/polymer materials, fluorescent dye chemistry a plus.

  • Experience with HPLC/SEC/IEC chromatography

  • Experience with UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy

  • Good organizational and project planning skills

  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and technical ability

  • Experience with Six Sigma, MiniTab, or statistical analysis prefer

  • Experience with antibody or bioconjugation a plus

  • Multi-task to cover a variety of job functions

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
