Medical Affairs (MA) plays a meaningful role in new product development to include Key Opinion Leader engagement on innovative technologies to define user needs, requirements, and hazards ensuring product safety and efficacy. Our Medical Affairs team plays a large role in the development of post market risk estimation criteria, risk benefit analysis of products, Clinical Evaluation Reports and literature searches.
As an Associate Director of Medical Affairs, you will lead all aspects of the clinical and administrative arms of our Medical Management Systems (MMS) division. With a focus on BD clinical analytics solutions, you will drive innovation and new product/business development, generate lifecycle clinical evidence, shape and develop markets, and ensure safety and compliance.
Develop processes and procedures to implement Medical Affairs research strategies, including the execution of business & research operating plans.
Lead cross-functional project team members and own medical process/program management. Mentor associates in MMS and directly or indirectly manage professional employees, business support, or technical staff.
Be the “Voice of the Patient/Clinician/End-User” to help ensure that products released to market are safe and effective.
Build & supervise evidence generation activities, lead publication and dissemination strategy, and ensure clinical trial excellence. This includes developing study protocol, executing projects, and presenting study results to internal leaders and external professionals.
Engage and influence Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and other external partners, influences clinical practice to improve outcomes, and drives appropriate global product adoption.
Serve as the Medical Affairs clinical delegate at Risk Management Board (RMB) meetings.
Apply expertise to improve efficiency and provide clinical guidance to associates on the team and ensure accuracy medical and clinical claims.
Stewardship of financial resources for personal and project expenses.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required, PharmD highly preferred. Advanced academic work is highly preferred, (e.g., Master’s Degree)
Minimum 5 years clinical pharmacy practice experience required. PGY-1 pharmacy residency or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience is required. PGY-2 pharmacy specialty residency in a clinical discipline highly preferred.
Experience participating in and/or managing investigational drug or medical device studies required, including conducting literature reviews, study design and execution, and compliance monitoring. Medical product development experience preferred.
Experience in continuous improvement projects and project management required.
Clinical practice experience with BD product categories and/or people management experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of and experience using and interpreting basic biomedical statistical methods.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing scientific papers and speaking publicly at professional conferences
Strong problem solver with the ability to lead complex projects with ambiguity and/or rapid change.
Proven organizational, planning, and project management skills and can balance multiple tasks and prioritize work to meet business needs and get results.
Orientation for detailed work product, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness.
Any Additional Information
Travel may range from 15-25%, overnight travel.
Position requires flexible working hours, including some nights and weekends, as needed for support of customer and business activities.
