The NASSC-Revenue Recognition team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of Revenues for the various businesses within BD. The team is focused on Revenue Recognition guidance (605/606) to ensure accurate and timely financials. The Revenue Accountant is responsible for ensuring sales, standard cost, rebate and accrual transactions are recorded in line with Company policy and GAAP. This role will also assist with the SOX controls testing for multiple business segments. As a Revenue Accountant, they will participate in month end close tasks along with cross functional projects as the revenue recognition SME. They will also be tasked with process improvements in Revenue Accounting to harmonize and improve efficiency and accuracy in month end close tasks and quarterly analysis deliverables.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Accurately perform monthly close activities including recording journal entries, reconciling complex ledger accounts, producing supporting schedules, and other monthly end tasks as assigned

  • Support the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and financial reporting requirements including performing complex general ledger account reconciliations and variance analysis

  • Working closely with cross functional teams to provide accounting guidance to ensure proper revenue accounting treatment

  • Review contracts to determine proper revenue accounting treatment

  • Calculate rebate reserve accruals based on contracted sales data

  • Monitor intercompany product flow relationships

  • Develop and create process workflow and desktop procedures to support assigned tasks

  • Identify process improvements to further streamline and automate revenue accounting process

  • Assist with SOX framework and team controls with respect to the various business segments

  • Interfaces with internal and external auditors including Compliance department

  • Represent finance in the design, testing and implementation of ERP systems

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in accounting, finance or a related field

  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional Accounting or Financial Analyst experience

  • Knowledge of Revenue Recognition Required

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • ERP experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP, BI & Qlikview experience preferred

  • MBA preferred

  • CPA preferred

  • Public Accounting experience a plus
