Vascular Access Devices, a sub-business unit of Medication Delivery Solutions, focuses on developing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality medical devices used by clinicians throughout the worldwide healthcare industry to access a patient’s vasculature. Our devices assist in the delivery of chemotherapy, blood products, antibiotics, and nutrition.

BD’s Finance Summer Analyst position is designed to attract highly talented undergraduate students who want to acquire practical work experience relevant to a career in Finance. As a Summer Analyst, you can expect to add real value to key projects through challenging and rewarding work. You will work directly with a manager in your day-to-day role, and be assigned mentors to aid and assist you in your transition into the corporate environment.

Summer Analysts who demonstrate strong performance and exhibit promising potential at BD will be considered as strong candidates for BD’s full-time Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP) upon successful completion of their Bachelor’s degree.

The vision of the full-time FLDP is to accelerate the development of early career associates and help them become leaders in the field of Finance.

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.

  • Shares in the preparation of monthly financial closing for BD, including but not limited to financial reporting and expense analysis.

  • Participates in the development of the annual expense budgets. This includes the ability to understand actual cost, forecast and prior year data.

  • Shares in the preparation and testing of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation.

  • Ability to develop financial models and ad-hoc analysis to support projects.

  • Performs special financial analysis projects for the Controller, Senior Manager and Finance Manager as needed.

  • Currently pursuing bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (currently a Junior in program).

  • Knowledge of accounting / finance skills and internal control procedures.

  • Communication skills, time management skills and organizational ability.

  • Must work well in a team-oriented environment, as well as independently.

  • Must possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have a desire to learn and receptiveness to feedback and mentoring.

  • Understanding of financial reporting and the required statements and supporting ledgers.

  • Excellent communication skills and organization ability.

  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel) and the ability to work with other computer applications.

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

This position is in an office environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty five pounds occasionally. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
