The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions

Set up, troubleshoot and operate computer numerically controlled machines and/ or machining centers and related equipment. Perform multiple machining operations on various materials, as well as perform required dimensional and visual inspections.

  • Proficiently setup, troubleshoot and operate a variety of machining equipment per specified procedures.

  • Position non-preset and preset tooling in machine, position and adjust fixturing, and prepare ancillary equipment, in an expeditious manner.

  • Make preliminary dimensional and visual evaluations using various inspection tools, preparing the process for production.

  • Make offsets and evaluate cutting tool performance to meet specifications and control process variations.

  • Maintain accurate records of part dimensions, SPC charts and process events.

  • Interpret SPC charts and inspection reports to assess process performance and make appropriate changes.

  • After initial training, shows the ability to consistently meet daily production goals while building a high quality product, part or subassembly to specification.

  • Expeditiously setup, operate and troubleshoot a combination of machining equipment within the facility.

  • Read and understand part program and alter simple instructions, i.e. offsets and specified user controlled parameters as required per related process specifications.

  • Understand the concepts concerning Cartesian coordinates, speeds, feeds, depth of cut, etc.

  • Perform basic maintenance and routine housekeeping duties to the machines and associated equipment.

  • Report malfunctions of equipment and process deviations.

  • May periodically need to assist in orienting, training, assigning work to and checking the work of lower level employees.

  • Ability to assist in the design and development of new and existing processes.

  • Make recommendations concerning part sequencing, speeds, feeds, depth of cut, etc. as necessary.

  • Maintain a neat, a clean and a safe work environment.

  • Willing to perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to identify and perform modifications to equipment, machines and devices within the limits of standard methods and procedures.

  • Understand SPC and ability to utilize various measuring gages.

  • Must have demonstrated a level of knowledge and competence to set up, operate and troubleshoot a combination of the following: manual equipment, and/ or CNC lathes, and/ or CNC mills, and/ or Machining centers.

  • Ability to successfully demonstrate visual accuracy through company-approved program.

  • Ability to work from and read blueprints, follow operating procedures, and complete required paperwork.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and assistance as required.

Understanding of and competency in technology equivalent to a minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience in a high volume micro-machining environment, and/ or experience gained through a technical institute supporting this competency. This includes all related mathematics, communication and physical skills, required to perform the duties encompassed in the position.

Must also be able to understand programming, machining concepts and troubleshooting, which includes root cause and corrective action.

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at machines or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 30 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes or to potential for minor injuries.

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
