Accountable for extrusion process development from design through market launch to meet worldwide Infusion Specialty Disposables business objectives. Work closely with Design, R&D, Quality, Procurement and Manufacturing Plants to implement manufacturing technology.

  • Supports the team with information for the development of capital and product cost analysis; writes and submits capital appropriations;

  • Works with product design and development teams to ensure robust manufacturability of new products.

  • Supports the development of process conditions to achieve a capable and stable process that fulfills product requirements.

  • Writes testing and validation protocols as required.

  • Applies six-sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies to ensure optimization of new and existing product lines.

  • Supports manufacturing plants in cost reduction, standardization and equipment upgrade projects.

  • Participate in the evaluation and assessment of new technologies, intellectual property, products, processes and industry trends that can or have the potential to impact our global business.

  • Initiate and implement cost savings opportunities.

  • Utilize CAD/CAM, state-of-the art productivity tools along with process monitoring instrumentation.

  • Coo rdinate and carry out qualification and validation activities for new products, processes as required.

  • Work with the extrusion experts within BD to drive safety programs, best practices and cost savings.

  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and knowledge (upward and downward) to other individuals and teams - both in writing and verbally.


  • Completion of Individual Impact Goals (IIGs).

  • Delivery of new equipment and process development on time.

  • Manages assigned projects, using advanced project management tools, providing tracking and regular updates of project plan and project budget.

  • Delivery of new equipment on budget.

  • Adherence to GPDS guidelines for new products.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Technical degree in Engineering, scientific discipline, or a related field.

  • Five years minimum experience in the extrusion of tubing for the medical industry. Experience extruding FPVC is a plus.

  • Experience working in a development environment, with an understanding of process design, process capability and manufacturing cost analysis

  • Able to execute 3D modeling in SolidWorks

  • Ability to perform statistical analysis using Minitab

  • Ability to interpret, edit and correct part drawings

  • Knowledge and experience using SAP system

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.

  • Language: 80 % proficiency in English

  • About 20% travel required .
