BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Account Manager - Non Acute in Mississauga, Ontario
Job Description Summary
Job duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic plans by working with members of the sales, marketing and clinical teams to cover the assigned territory/channels
Manage and negotiate product validations, product conversions, and sustainability plans
Translate the strategic marketing plans into account or channel-specific plans by leveraging the product value propositions to achieve targeted sales and growth
Work closely with the MDS team to provide clinical end users with technical and best practice solutions for MDS products. A heavy emphasis is placed on Healthcare Worker and Patient Safety.
Establish and develop strong relationships with key decision makers and committees within assigned channels.
Ensure a high degree of awareness for BD’s portfolio within assigned territory/channels.
Become the customer subject matter expert to deliver win/win solutions
Lead account planning initiatives for assigned channels
Uncover and provide competitive information and market insights
Expense reports, internal and external communication, conferences etc.
Market intelligence: market surveys, communicate competitor intelligence
Attaining sales goals established within the designated territory
Increasing sales of current accounts and establishing new accounts. Positions self as a product expert
Presents, educates, and provides in-services on the process/procedure of properly using the Company’s products
Maintains thorough knowledge and capabilities of the Company’s products, channels and methods of distribution.
Responsible for meeting territory sales and profitability goals.
Responsible for developing new prospects and establishing customers.
Informs customers of new and current products, backorders, general order status, current pricing structure, company policy changes, and forecasts for new needs.
Achieves prompt, mutually satisfactory solution to customers’ complaints.
Keeps promises and appointments. Exercises courtesy and ethical manners at all times.
Attends customers’ meetings and tradeshows.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required. MSc and/or MBA would be considered an asset
Minimum of 2 years general sales experience, medical sales experience preferred.
College/University business degree or diploma or comparable experience in the market for 3 or more years.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational and planning skills.
Thorough understanding of the needs/analysis approach to sales.
Understands the product buyer concept.
Understands contract administration.
Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards and be willing to travel 15-20% of the time, including overnight travel.
Strong business acumen coupled with a high level analytical capability
Excellent communication skills both orally and verbally
Proven ability to build strong Customer Relationships
Strong Presentation and influencing skills
Ability to manage a complex Sales Environment including managing multiple projects
Ability to take initiative and drive opportunities within assigned channels
Ability to travel including overnight travel within Ontario
Proven problem solving skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in pipeline management, data analysis and use of standard systems.
Uses logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
Strong Communicator and above average presentation skills in a variety of presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, and with senior leadership.
Strong business and financial acumen and analytical skills with proven understanding of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.
Strong negotiation skills tested in tough situations with external stakeholders.
Ability to influence decisions, set priorities and follow through with actions.
Must possess excellent communication (both written and verbal), allowing the effective communication of complex information to a wide variety of audiences and leveraging for the best outcome.
