Job Description Summary

This position exists to enable profitable and sustainable growth and drive commercial excellence across MDS in Canada. The Training and Development Function is responsible for developing, designing and delivering sales training and Onboarding programs that improves our sales success. The goal is to:

• improve competencies around the execution of business unit and sales team objectives

• to improve sales skills, sales process, clinical and business acumen, as well as technology adoption to increase sales effectiveness with high impact results

• Build processes to assess commercial skills and benchmark expected performance

• drive the use of SF.COM as an enabler of improvement in commercial strategy

• be the subject matter expert on the Clinical/Technical components of our commercial strategy

• deliver an improved Onboarding program for MDS Canada including product knowledge, sales skills and use of internal BD systems (SF.Com, BTC, etc)

Job Description

The Sales Training and Development Manager (STDM) is a resource for the execution of the MDS business strategy by addressing the development needs of current and future Sales and Clinical associates at all levels including the first step of Onboarding. The STDM must fully understand the business strategy and be able to identify the necessary skills and competencies the associates need to successfully execute upon this strategy. The first hand experiences in our customers environment and/or credentials of the Sales Training and Development Manager enhances the credibility of our training approach based on a customer centric model. The knowledge and experiences the STDM will gain in this position will prepare them for the next step in a Leadership position as outlined by their Career Blueprint.

Specifically, the Sales Training and Development Manager will lead the development and implementation of learning opportunities. This is a critical liaison function, requiring the skills to assist the Subject Matter Experts (SME's) in developing materials that reflect the sales process and meet the learning needs of a diverse sales force. A successful approach will ensure best practice is embedded into learning modules that include traditional training (didactic and experiential), eLearning, and blended modalities. Emphasis will be on developing skill sets focused on customer interactions at the decision making level, such as Clinical Procedure knowledge, Value Analysis Committees, using BD segment based selling strategies. With the support of the MDS Leadership Team, the STDM will help develop measurement systems to ensure learning is appropriate and followed with effective coaching for continued success.

This role works in close collaboration with the Director, Sales Training and Development. This role is also closely linked with Marketing in terms of ensuring that Marketing strategies are enabled in the field, and the Clinical Teams are also being trained as part of the commercial strategy of MDS in Canada.

The Sales Training and Development Manager reports to the MDS Business Director, with a dotted line to the Director, Sales Training and Development. This position is a Job Group 4
