The successful candidate will work closely with a software development team collaborating with R&D scientists and engineers in the exciting field of single-cell genomics and proteomics.
You will develop instrument control and data acquisition and analysis solutions for our systems that enable the study of hundreds of expressed genes across tens of thousands of cells.
Senior Software Engineer – Genomics Instrumentation
BD Biosciences is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers, creating advanced tools for genomics research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with other software engineers and testers in an Agile Scrum team
Support and collaborate with R&D scientists, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and service engineers, technical writers, application specialists, and customers
Participate in requirements definition, project planning and estimating for new products, new features, and product improvements
Create high-quality, well-designed, well-tested, working software
Document requirements, use cases, and designs
Analyze failures and fix bugs
Mentor other software developers
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
Experience with data acquisition and control systems, including image acquisition, motion control, and digital I/O
Proficient in modern C++ and/or C#
Experience with image processing and analysis, or applicable mathematics skills
Experience with unit testing and test-driven development
Good understanding of computer science and software architecture fundamentals
Good communication and collaborative problem solving skills
Experience with Agile Scrum
Master’s degree in Computer Science
