As the R&D Manager, you'll be joining our Worldwide R&D Department in Le Pont de Claix (Grenoble). You are the one who can make the difference.

Your main responsibilities are to :

  • Manage Product Development-to-Launch Product Experts for all PFS marketed products from newly developed products to legacy products.

  • Provide advanced technical coaching to ensure appropriate product robustness and fit with market needs.

  • Provide advanced process coaching to product experts to lead investigation and researches to fulfill customer and regulatory boards queries and concerns.

  • Select, develop and organize staff for efficient contribution to Projects.

  • Apply extensive technical and design expertise and has full understanding of other related disciplines

  • Maintain an up to date overview of relevant technologies considering impact on BD business. Drive assessment of competitive products, processe and new trends.

  • Work is performed without appreciable directions. Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.

  • Liaison: You represent the organization as prime technical contact on contracts and projects. You interact with Customers and senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Propose potential inventions and inform BD in accordance with BD Intellectual Property (IP) Process.

  • Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principals.

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Legacy Product Life Cycle

  • Product Expertise :

  • Ensure the set up and maintenance of an adequate support organization to address customers (Internal and external) queries and concerns.

  • Accountable for timely delivery, technical excellence and process effectiveness of R&D Investigation and research activities.

  • Support Line extension and customization project with Design Activities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product/technology platform specifications and performances. Ensures consistency of change requests with product technology capabilities. Work with appropriate network to ensure relevance of Process Specifications and Control Plan with Product specifications.

  • Supports BDM-PS growth

  • Stimulate innovation in his team. Contribute to developing and applying innovative approaches for best outcome on the market.

  • Ensure high-level market and competition understanding of his team. Provide technical expertise to customer-facing teams, to support business growth and customer confidence.

  • Provide technical expertise in Product portfolio roadmap in relation with Strategic Marketing. Lead or participate to Product development concept phases or PIR championing.

  • ISO Committee attendance:

  • Represent BD in such committee, with empowerment to take positions to defend BD’s interest in order to influence such instances to issue standards in line with BD capabilities and roadmaps.

Organizational Development

  • Early Identifies future Leaders aligned with BD leadership standard

  • Associate development: Actively mentor associates in product design and engineering roles. Provides technical direction and frequent feedback. Participates and assists in their success. Continues to raise the bar on technical skills and helps associates rise to expectations. Advises management of technical needs and desired skill mix.

  • Recruiting and talent retention: advices senior management establishes a high bar for recruiting technical talent. Ensures excellence in technical recruitment with high-profile people and manages long-term development path to retain them. Especially focuse in identifying and developing technical career path pool.

  • Consistently deploy design for six sigma approaches or methodologies while always keeping in mind business relevancy and project effectiveness.

Scope & impact:

  • Decisions have an extended impact on work processes and outcomes. Erroneous decisions result in critical product issue at customer’s not being properly and timely addressed, cause substantial expenditure of time, human resources and funds and jeopardize future business activities.

  • Establishes operational objectives and work plans and delegate assignments to associates.

  • Regularly interacts with customers and / or functional peer group managers. Requires the ability to change thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
