Purpose:

The Country Business Leader has full P&L accountability for BD’s Pre Analytical System (PAS) in France. S/he provides direct leadership to the PAS team including dedicated Sales, Marketing and Clinical Support associates and is responsible for identifying growth opportunities and implementation plans to realize the opportunities.

The position sits at the center of BD's matrix organization and requires close collaboration with and coordination between the European PAS teams and BD France businesses.

The Country Business Leader has a dual direct reporting line to the Country General Manager France and the VP/GM PAS Europe. S/he a member of the PAS Europe Leadership Team as well as the French Leadership Team. S/he leads a team of circa 40 people.

Responsibilities:

Business & Marketing Strategy:

  • With the guidance from CGM France , VP/GM PAS Europe creates, communicates and engages her/his team in the vision and strategy for PAS France

  • Captures and evaluates market trends, needs and opportunities in the country, recommends and drive implementation of respective commercial priorities/solution.

  • Leads the development and implementation of marketing and sales planning. Contribute to regional market development activities.

  • Engages the organization around the vision and objectives.

  • Further develops the organizational capabilities in order to meet challenging business targets.

  • Develops an organization that will embrace change, new initiatives and will be ready for future challenges.

Strategy Execution / Commercial Implementation (P&L accountability):

  • Ensures the development of challenging but achievable operating plans and budgets for PAS in France

  • Is accountable for overall PAS France performance to budget.

  • Provides effective business and financial reporting to European and French leaders.

  • Leads the implementation of marketing and sales plans, new product launch plans, pricing, working in close collaboration with European business teams to ensure effective leverage of resources and capabilities.

  • Monitors and coordinates short and long term market and business trends and ensures translation into reliable short, medium and long-term plans (from operational forecasting to market development).

  • Proactively monitors the financial performance of the business and any deviations from critical project plans. Ensures implementation of any necessary contingency plans and/or corrective actions to effectively mitigate risks.

Customer relationship

  • Develops appropriate understanding of local customers’ needs through ongoing interaction with key accounts and through industry leaders.

  • Develops/keeps contacts with professionals as well as with key opinion leaders.

  • Maintains contacts with key decision makers in the purchasing groups.

  • Manages contacts with governmental institutions and key professional trade association and organizations.

  • Provides leadership and coaches the PAS country organization to deliver results, improve skills and manage ongoing change.

  • Develops and implements an organizational plan which defines; the capabilities necessary to support the business in the medium to long-term; ensures that the organization remains structurally flexible and competitive and capable of adapting to change.

  • Builds own succession plan, and identifies and develops succession plans for critical roles.

Profile

Business Acumen

  • Demonstrates the ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals with in-depth knowledge of our market and industry.

  • Will have more than 10 years of sales, marketing and business management experience including at least 3 years with full P&L accountability

  • Will have a track record of success in the medical devices market and / or preferably in the diagnostics field

  • Has strong business ethics.
