Job Description:

Ensure that the molding department produces high quality, low cost molded components for the assembly departments by setting & pulling molds, diagnosing & repairing problems, maintaining machines & implementing continuous improvements.

General Function/Purpose: To be responsible for the technical, daily coordination/monitoring of presses, and possess the skills necessary to get this done. To support the molding associates & processor in the production of high quality and low cost molded components. Have technical responsibility for assigned presses and the support of the other shifts.

  • Inspectors Level of education/knowledge needed: Required:

  • High school diploma or GED (minimum requirement)

  • A working knowledge of molding machines resins and processes.

  • Good understanding of mold design and operation.

  • A working knowledge of all molded parts, quality specifications and inspection procedures.

  • Ability to operate a Fork Lift, Electric Pallet Jack and Electric Stacker

  • Ability to operate a computer, use email, word programs and SAP Level of experience needed Required: Mechanical or equivalent experience Desired:

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Processor

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.

  • Good verbal communication, organizational and follow-up skills.

  • Problem solving, able to make judgment calls.

  • Ability to learn to read molded component drawings.

  • Ability to use and read gauges

  • Able to work in a team environment Apprentice Technician KSA's (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities):

  • Assist Sr. Processor and Processors with pull/sets of molding tools.

  • Address all component defects in a timely manner.

  • Maintain press/mold/auxiliary control to avoid damage at start-up/shut-down.

  • Assist/Support Engineering with validations, DOE's, R&D, and projects.

  • Fill in for absent Processors

  • Be familiar with all inspection/mold approval procedures.

  • Order supplies/materials/concentrates for the molding area & work with the warehouse.

  • Create SAP Work Orders whenever needed.

  • Assist the mechanics with repairs when needed.

  • Perform minor repairs to presses & molds.

  • Ensure that molds are processed correctly.

  • Trouble-shoot and know how to correct problems with molds, presses, processes, & components.

  • Perform ZM's when and where needed.

  • Know the roles & responsibilities of the processors, Quality inspectors, Machine Attendants & Material Handlers.

  • Ensure that parameter sheets are updated.

  • Ensure that mold protection is checked daily.

  • Daily, weekly monthly inventories

  • Answering Alarms

  • Blocking parts Technical Leadership KSA's:

  • Technical processing resource

  • Lead by setting a "positive" example for all associates to follow.

  • Link between TL & production floor

  • Updating the Molding Board

  • Lead PVD board meetings when needed.

  • Assist the Team Leader in ensuring all job functions, in the area, are done correctly prior to the arrival of the next shift.

  • Assist the Team Leader in ensuring that everyone has what’s needed to perform their jobs correctly.

  • Expect & Accept personal responsibility for yourself and for others.

  • Make logical decisions on which presses go down & which run depending on production needs.

  • Assist the Team Leader by following the MD700212 daily.

  • Promote & Support all of the Molding Departments goals. (Safety, Quality, Production, Financial, Scheduling, Miscellaneous, etc...) Training KSA's

  • Train Machine attendants & oversee machine attendant training.

  • Provide opportunities for associates to learn more about the molding process.

  • Drive to improve the capabilities of the associates on a daily basis. Coordination/Monitoring KSA's:

  • Monitor & Maintain equipment safety devices

  • Assist the Machine attendants in maintaining proper component quality standards.

  • Assist the Machine attendants in maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

  • Monitor, Maintain, & Communicate material levels in the silos and rail cars.

  • Assist the Molding Processors in coordinating & monitoring the press cleaning responsibilities.

  • Assist the Molding Processors and Sr. Processor in monitoring & ensuring part containment issues are addressed daily.

  • Monitor proper start up and shut down of the molding processes and the area. Production KSA's:

  • Will know where the finished goods are stored.

  • Will be able to take inventory on molded components.

  • Know how to correctly use and reset the cycle counters at the presses.

  • Know how to find, determine, setup and use approximate part weight and the scales for bulk handled components. Safety KSA's

  • Able to perform proper LOTO procedures

  • Able to un-jam a plugged grinder properly while following correct LOTO procedures.

  • Proper disposal of waste-water.

  • Proper clean up and disposal of waste oil.

  • Location of machine safeties

  • Know and understand machine safeties, pinch points, and danger areas.

  • Will be trained on fall protection safety.

  • Know the proper PPE to use and when it should be used.

  • Know the location of the SDS and their use

  • Demonstrate the safe method for clearing plugged hoppers and runner jams

  • Know how to operate overhead cranes safely. Other Functions

  • Miscellaneous cleanup of the area

  • other duties, as assigned Working Conditions

  • Indoor heated and cooled environment

  • Degree of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise, vibration and chemicals. When working outside, any & all physical elements of weather & temperature may be present. Inside, noise is the major distraction. Earplugs must be worn for both indoor & outdoor work.
