Job Description Summary
The US Marketing Manager, MDS will be accountable for and helping to lead discrete initiatives in support of the BD Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) US Region Marketing and Commercial Excellence organization; a nearly $2.0B enterprise. This position will lead critical marketing efforts for the respective platforms and in support of the various selling organizations in the US Region.
The individual will be responsible for championing across the business groups and platforms spanning the US Region MDS business unit (Catheter Care Medication Delivery, Vascular Access Devices, Oncology Care) and all aspects of commercial marketing. As a high-contributing team member this role provides significant input into product line-related business decisions and resource planning; plays a critical role in key projects/ initiatives, often leading project/ initiative teams.
The individual should demonstrate marketing and commercial business management acumen through a specific set of skills and working knowledge. Expectation is that Marketing Manager has the ability to demonstrate strong learning agility and rapidly elevate from basic to proficient at the following competencies: driving process excellence, championing and asserting new ideas, influencing other business leaders, marketing planning and execution, product and portfolio knowledge and management, business and financial acumen.
Develops and manages programmatic initiatives across the Marketing and Commercial Excellence (M/CE) functions including Marketing Communications, Commercial Integration, Marketing Analytics and Operations to ensure the achievement of financial/ budget expectations and product platform strategies.
Leads the coordination of critical business-driving planning efforts to include the Annual Strategic Review (ASR) and M/CE Business Plan.
Facilitates the preparation and management of the annual Sales and Marketing Action Plan (SMAP) to ensure tight alignment to business imperatives, collaboration among respective functions, and timely execution with monitoring and measurement of outcomes.
Serve as US Region business lead for the development and management of the B2B Pharma initiative supporting the MDS commercialization efforts with pharmaceutical customers.
Lead the assessment of business continuity efforts or change management for select Marketing programs in the Non-Acute Channel to ensure it aligns with business needs and delivers the right return on investment.
Serve as the primary M/CE liaison with US MDS Sales Training and Development, driving stronger alignment and coordination to advance sales effectiveness.
Lead the facilitation on behalf of the M/CE team for MDS sales meetings to manage the planning process.
Supports training for new hires and refresher training courses on product category as required by Sales Training and Development.
Participates as a Marketing Core Team Member on cross-platform teams, delivering the marketing leadership and support needed to the relevant projects
Acts as the Marketing Core Team Member or Extended Team Member on key project teams. These projects will span from sustaining engineering projects, continuous improvement projects through to new product launches and product/ business development opportunities as appropriate.
Synergistic alignment with commercial and customer-facing functions including, but not limited to: US Region (MDS/BDX) sales, Customer Care, Strategic Customer Group, Channel Management and where required, establishes relationships to drive growth.
Ensure that all activities are consistent with the BD core values and comply with relevant acts, legal demands, and regulatory and ethical standards.
Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration or Marketing preferred
MBA or Master’s Degree is preferred
Minimum of 3 years of business experience in the life science or medical device industry.
Minimum of 2 years in product, market management or sales. Business experience may include marketing, sales, sales training, business development.
Strong knowledge of working in a B2B environment; understanding of healthcare industry.
Demonstrated experience with business process and behavior/ culture changes.
Proven ability to work with diverse cross functional teams and drive positive results; exposure to cross-functional processes/ requirements.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with executive audiences, middle management, individual contributors, sales personnel, and external customers.
Embraces and competently displays sales support, customer focus, drive for results, continuous and versatile learning, action oriented, emotional intelligence, stakeholder alignment.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision. Resourcefulness and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities are key.
Experience in identifying Market Opportunities, Market Segmentation, Targeted Marketing, Competitive Analysis, Pricing Strategy and Go to Market models and strategies.
