Job Description SummaryReporting to the Head of GSC Optimization, the Supply Chain Process Improvement (SCPI) team’s primary role consists of identifying opportunities to promote the efficiency in the supply chain processes to ensure more effective delivery of products for our patients. The SCPI Analysts role is to identify opportunities to improve forecast and inventory management. This includes working closely with Factories, BUs Marketing, Finance and Planning Functions across BDX driving improvement opportunities using on fact-based analyses. Furthermore, the SCPI should understand last technology developments impacting company supply chains and assist in evaluating future supply chain trends & best practices and prioritize areas of improvement.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • 30%: Identify and vet new process improvement opportunities with Supply Chain leadership team, showing creativity identifying opportunities to drive improvements in demand / supply balance, metrics and SIOP process. Leverage Lean Concepts and Six Sigma tools to develop and effectively implement advanced Supply Chain solutions, processes, and systems improvements.

  • 30%: Develop & communicate actionable insights through problem definition and the application of statistical models against existing and/or simulated future data.

  • 30%: Perform advanced analyses to prepare decks for tracking and report performance metrics on a weekly and monthly basis

  • 10%: Development of tools and review of processes to continuously improve performance

Scope of Responsibility

  • Under the guidance of the GSC leadership team, the SCPI is responsible to improve overall operational performance: Identify continuous improvement opportunities and support GSC organization with prioritization and reporting of initiatives: design programs to improve performance areas such as supply cost driver analysis or backorder root cause analysis

  • Increase the speed of Process/system implementation; Accelerate business process effectiveness: Ensure best supply chain practice sharing mechanism are in place across GSC, such as SIOP, short term capacity planning, Portfolio health and Inventory optimization.


  • Must have experience in forecasting, inventory management, and capacity planning techniques.

  • Working knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis (R, SAS, ForecastPro, ..).

  • Experience within multiple ERP/MRP systems required (SAP, SCM/APO, JDEwards, …).

  • Experience with relational databases and business intelligence tools strongly preferred (QlikView, Tableau, SQL, …).

  • Understanding of the E2E supply chain processes, broad Supply Chain knowledge

  • Order fulfilment and customer service experience highly desirable

  • Must have strong analytical, project management, and consulting skills, with the ability to influence, work effectively, and implement solutions in a cross-functional, team environment.

  • Must demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word);

  • Some experience with Advanced Planning Systems a plus

  • Collaborative approach at all levels to issue resolution and opportunity identification.

  • Demonstrated customer centric focus and global orientation.

  • Ability to influence outcomes for initiatives over which he/she does not have full control.

  • Ability to quickly understand and analyze data.


Bachelors degree with 4 - 9 years of related experience; or MBA/MS in relevant discipline and 2 - 7 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification an advantage
