Have expert skills in polymer and material science. Possess a deep understanding of the linkage between molecular architecture and structure, to processing and properties for a broad range of polymers materials. Experience in material selection for polymeric material device manufacturing preferably for the design of complex medical devices and systems. Keep abreast of potential new technologies to enable the design of new materials and capabilities. Leverage existing technologies to advance our core businesses while supporting the development of new products and platforms. Advance our material characterization, testing, analysis, and application capabilities. Plan and lead cross-functional development projects, from concept to manufacturing. Collaborate in the evaluation and assessment of competitive products, processes or new trends. Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles. Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Project Leadership

Technology Development: Conceive and develop novel technologies to advance business goals internally and through the identification of external collaborative opportunities. Deliver new material solutions which offer differentiating value to the business, our customers, patients, and the environment. Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop the next generation of materials and processes for product development opportunities. Responsible for solving advanced technical problems. Plan, implement, monitor and delivery of designated products, with accountability for projects success. Technology Transfer: Implement efficient and effective transition from research to development to manufacturing. Partnership: Identify, establish working relationships with, and leverage best in class product and technology development partners. Process Effectiveness: Utilization of the scientific method to identify problems or potential risks and deliver quick, effective solutions to enable projects to meet their timing and deliverables. Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely engagement of other parts of the company in product development activities. Innovation: Create and promote an environment in which technical innovation can flourish through empowerment, encouragement, and support. Recognize and reward risk taking and rule changing solutions that enable business growth. Customer Focus: Develop and promote advanced understanding of customer needs and processes to ensure relevant and innovative product development. Desired Qualifications

Master or PhD degree, preferably PhD, in Polymer Chemistry or Science, Chemistry, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience with 5 or more years of related experience preferably in material selection for device manufacturing for complex systems. Successful track record of developing and delivering to market commercially viable technology. Knowledge of polymeric materials in the medical industry; their features and requirements, and characterization highly desired. Self-motivation, with the ability to set objectives and meet milestones for multiple projects. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to communicate results and needs to senior technical colleagues and suppliers. Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and create external partnerships. Strong understanding of disciplined product development processes, regulatory, and quality requirements. Strong fit with BD values.
