Job Description

Our R&D team is looking for highly talented and driven individuals with a dream to make a meaningful impact on changing the status-quo and a real passion for delivering technical solutions to complex problems.

The open R&D position will offer our new team member the chance to lead and/or participate in a variety of technical project types, including, but not limited to, New Product Development, Product Customizations and Line Extensions, Customer Support, Capacity Expansion, Cost Reduction, and Supply Continuance.

As a member of the R&D team you will get to:

  • Design and develop medical products suitable for high volume manufacturing (plastic injection molding and automated assembly/packing processes) from concept through commercialization utilizing a phase gate development process

  • Pursue complex problems using sound engineering principles, utilizing experimental, computational and analytical methods.

  • Write, implement and lead bench studies, tolerance stack up analysis, FMEAs, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, materials specifications and component specifications.

We are looking for a technical leader who can:

  • Mentor and motivate team members and junior associates

  • Facilitate effective multi-functional communication and engagement.

  • Guide multi-function teams comprising of QA, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, and Manufacturing team members.

  • Support execution of technical and/or multi-functional project work

  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.

  • Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices as well as with all local, state, federal and BD safety laws, policies and procedures.

You will be effective if you have:

  • Strong project management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills to work within tight deadlines

  • Sound knowledge of engineering first principles.

  • Proficiency in R&D functional planning, requirement generation and technical (DFSS/Design/Cross functional) reviews for all product development phases.

  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals, teams and customers.

  • Experience in guiding team/individuals to develop technical solutions to complex problems.

  • Proficient in solid modeling (Pro/E, SolidWorks or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S.: 8+ years of experience in technical area. M.S.: 5+ years of experience in technical area. Ph.D.: 3+ years of experience in technical area.

  • 3+ years of medical device experience in as a technical leader on a multi-functional team.
