BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Freight Audit Analyst in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey

Job Description SummaryThis position is responsible to execute daily operations within the freight audit function for North America.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Daily engagement with and oversight of a third party freight audit service provider which processes and pays both domestic and international freight invoices for the North American transportation network.

• Interaction with freight carriers (both domestic and international) and third party audit companies to resolve billing inquiries, errors and/or process issues.

• Collaboration with transportation operations teams across the North American hubs to ensure accuracy of freight rates, terms and rules utilized by the third party to process and pay invoices, and to investigate any invoicing inquiries.

• Freight data analysis, metrics development and reporting, and identification and management of continuous improvement initiatives to standardize process and reduce variability within the freight audit function.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

40% Review exception invoices in the freight audit system, and work with freight audit provider, post audit firm, carriers and internal transportation and finance teams to resolve through conference calls, electronic communication and face-to-face meetings.

30% Analyze data and prepare management metrics, reporting and presentation materials.

30% Identify and manage continuous improvement projects to optimize freight audit processes. Integrate new carriers and BD locations onto North American freight audit process as required.

Sphere of Influence:

Minimal supervision, self directed, manages assigned tasks independently. No direct employee supervision; must be able to advise third party processor and carriers of BD rules, requirements and procedures as needed for timely processing of invoices and execution of the freight audit processes. Scope/lead/support CI projects with third party processor, carriers, post audit firms and transport operations teams; Internal collaboration withNorth American, Global, and other Regional transport operations and supply chain teams including supply chain finance. Guide external contacts at the freight audit and pay third party processor; 3PL operators, post auditors, freight forwarders, carriers, vendors.

Required Skills and Knowledge

Preferred:

2-5 years in transportation industry managing freight invoice audit for a multi-national company or working for a global/regional transportation provider. Familiarity with investigating SAP shipment records.

Required:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access and Powerpoint;

Excellent analytical skills and financial reporting acumen;

General knowledge of domestic, international transportation;

Strong verbal and written communication skills;

Able to scope and lead process improvement projects, and lead discussions with suppliers and service providers. Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, business administration or related field.
