BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Associate Director, Continuous Improvement in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey

Job Description SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Operational Excellence - PAS, the Associate Director, Continuous Improvement leads the development and execution of the annual Continuous Improvement plan/budget (approx. 2.5 to 3% of COGS), supports Enterprise Project execution in the plants, and the deployment of BD’s Operational Excellence initiative for BD’s Pre-analytical Systems (PAS) business. Results are delivered by a team of 10 CI and Value Stream Managers that dotted line report to this position.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Drive the development and execution of Continuous Improvement plans, and budgets at each site in alignment with each business’ objectives.

  • Drive the implementation of the Operations Excellence Road map via developing and implementing actions plans at each site.

  • Act as a change agent by providing coaching and mentoring at all levels targeting: Operations Excellence and Continuous Improvement.

  • Responsible for education and training of Operations Excellence, Lean and other tools to achieve OPEX and CI objectives.

  • Tracks, monitors, and trends plan execution and takes corrective actions as required. Facilitates cross site reviews of overall program performance.

  • Work with OPEX team in support of developing and evolving Operations Excellence and CI systems.

  • Prepare and maintain compliance to department budget and forecasts.

  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree Degree required. Focus in engineering (or equivalent) is preferred but not required; and a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

  • Project Management expertise required.

  • Prior plant CI Department leadership required.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a high volume regulated industry.

  • Lean or Six Sigma experience required. Lean Certification, Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred, but not required.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Prior experience in a large distributed workforce with a matrixed environment.

  • Facilitation & Change Management leadership skills/experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project and PowerPoint; good understanding of Statistics including Minitab.

  • Excellent planning, organization, analysis, and problem solving skills.

  • Proven leadership ability, excellent facilitation skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Influences and motivates teams.

  • Ability to work with executives and communicate abstract concepts.

  • International experience.
