Job Description Summary

You will join a team of 5 associates dedicated to Direct Procurement for Devices in Europe, based in our European Headquarter in Eysins, Switzerland. You will be dedicated to 2 product portfolios which are highly strategic for BD : Resins and Chemicals, an integral part of one of our core production business : injection of plastic parts. You will collaborate with 15 production sites across Europe (soon 18 with the integration of Bard), travelling to meet internal and external stakeholders on-site a few times a month (20-25% overall travelling).

You will work in close contact with a wide variety of functions internally (category and sourcing group directors / managers, global and regional category managers, site leaders, country leaders, site procurement leaders and associates, regional shared service center…).

Bring your strong analytical skills and excellent communication to BD, global leader in Medical Technology.

As Senior Procurement Specialist, your main responsibility will be to execute sourcing strategies for the assigned sites and/or categories as defined in the three to five-year roadmaps, and as directed by the Sourcing Group Manager, in order to achieve cost-savings while ensuring a higher product quality.

You will be involved both in implementation and consolidation activities. Implementation generally includes overall project management, procurement aspects of supplier qualification, risk mitigation programs, and appropriate implementation of the source-to-pay process inclusive of customer-centric support content and preferred payment methods.

You will lead supplier management activities and execute supplier compliance activities for assigned suppliers. Suppliers are generally regional in nature and may span only a few sites, a business or a function.

You will also be responsible for achieving budgeted ) savings targets, and for assigned supply base, developing value plans, supplier management and compliance activities, and achieving value targets within the assigned sites and/or categories.

You will also be responsible for customer relationships with stakeholders for assigned categories and/or sites. You will handle a wide range of two-way communication with and in support of site procurement that arises in the course of implementation while demonstrating close collaboration and alignment with category group leaders and global and regional strategic sourcing managers.

Furthermore, you may be responsible for contributing to the global category teams in the development, communication and approval of sourcing strategies, collecting and providing regional business requirements and regional supply market information and supply practices.

Your performance will be measured against agreed cost savings and value targets, supplier compliance as well as proficiency in the use of the applicable tools for the strategic sourcing process.

About you

To deliver the results that we are looking for, we need a degree-level educated, experienced professional in procurement/purchasing as well as in cost management practices and supplier management. Strong on quantitative and financial analysis and project management, you have participated in strategic sourcing processes and have solid fundamentals in purchasing. A strong communicator, you are assertive and able to influence without direct authority. You also have excellent problem-solving skills and drive for results. You are fluent in English; other European languages would be a plus (especially French and Spanish).

Other desirable but non-mandatory features include:

  • Experience in Manufacturing Services and Supply Chain

  • Knowledge of Process Effectiveness

  • Experience with Regulatory Systems and Compliance including quality concepts

  • Working in a matrix environment, influencing skills

  • Project management and cross-functional interaction

  • Business acumen and effective communication

This role will require 20 to 25% of travelling in Europe on a regular basis.
