Job Description Summary

The Global logistics manager shapes the strategy and operating model of logistics activities within his/her business unit, in accordance with overall corporate strategy. He/she leads the definition, implementation and monitoring of operational controls, risks mitigation plans, improvements projects and value chain partnerships.

The role encompasses collaborating with a small shared team of manufacturing logistics managers, cascading down governance and projects across their respective scope, in collaboration with local teams (manufacturing, procurement, supply planning, COEs, etc.). Improvement of logistics activities aims to gain greater service to internal/external clients, profit margins and optimization of processes.

About the Role

You will drive strategy and transformation of manufacturing logistics activities within business unit, globally, and furthermore lead the definition and implementation of adequate operational controls and performance reports.

You identify risks and mitigation plans to preserve business continuity and customer satisfaction as well as contribute to and steer development of improvement projects impacting positively profit margins. Additionally, you actively engage internal and external logistics stakeholders to capture additional efficiencies across the value chain (e.g. carriers, 3PLs).

Strategy definition

  • Develops strategic plan for logistics and revises as appropriate to meet changing business needs and requirements. Submit plans for approval by directors and above.

  • Translates strategic plan into tangible work streams and improvement projects that will implement the strategy.

  • Evaluates implementation and variances against strategic targets committed.

Improvement projects

  • Accomplishes improvement objectives by interlinking all projects impacting WWID Logistics.

  • Meets financial objectives (ROI, payback) by forecasting requirements; preparing project budget; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions (quality, cost, time).

  • Works closely with relevant stakeholders (e.g. manufacturing, supply planning) to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the project(s), along with adequate reporting.

  • Acts as a champion of change by anticipating others' reactions, proactively leveraging change process tools, and recommending methods to maintain engagement.

  • Organizes and participates to continuous improvement activities (e.g. kaizen) to identify waste or synergies among processes. Facilitate process changes delivering increased productivity.

Operational control

  • Leverage standard and specialized business software tools to assist Operations in managing business processes and performance.

  • Analyzes the effectiveness of process changes; continually strives to close gaps between measured results and service expectations and agreements.

  • Ensure proper alignment of performance indicators (KPIs) and targets across the organization.

  • Arrange and lead operational performance forums when required.

  • Identify and promote best practices across business units.

Risk management

  • Liaise up and down the organization to identify, collect and prioritize logistics risks endangering business continuity, customer satisfaction and overall operational excellence.

  • Monitors implementation of mitigation plans and reports accordingly to relevant stakeholders.

Value chain engagement

  • Networks across functions and geographies to encourage consensus among groups and reach desired strategic objective (manufacturing, procurement, supply planning, COEs, etc.).

  • Promote and develop strategic partnerships outside the organization to capture additional efficiencies across the value chain (e.g. carriers, 3PLs).

About You

You have a bachelor's degree, MBA preferred, as well as min. 7-10 years’ experience in a related field, whereas APICS CSCP certification a plus. Furthermore, you have min. 2-3 years of Logistics / Supply Chain experience as well as preferably first management experience.

You have great knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in Project Management and Continuous Improvement (6S, Lean, etc.) as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience with MS Project will be an added advantage.
