Job Description Summary

In this newly created position, you will join our European Marketing team for Diagnostic Systems, a global leader of products and instruments used for diagnosing infectious diseases. Our products are used in the clinical market to screen for microbial presence, grow and identify organisms, and test for antibiotic susceptibility. In the industrial market, Diagnostic Systems' products are used for the testing of sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals and medical devices, for environmental monitoring and to detect food pathogens.

You will be working on the Lab Automation portfolio, specifically our Kiestra technology which is designed to increase efficiency, streamline processes and to provide a new way to deliver high quality, consistent results with a fast turn-around time.

Job Description

Reporting to the European Product Manager, Lab Automation, Diagnostic Systems Europe, you will be responsible for supporting the overall business objectives of BD Diagnostic Systems Europe, by maintaining and developing market expert knowledge and translating the business strategy related to Lab Automation into tactical marketing and communication programs for the country organizations. You will create and execute product marketing plans on your assigned product portfolio to ensure the achievement of financial/budget expectations and product line strategies. In addition, you will support the management of drivers of demand for your assigned product line such as pricing strategy, channel strategy, contracting, product mix, tender input (technical).

You will develop and maintain your product line specific expert knowledge in terms of customer needs, environmental forces, product, technologies, applications, and competition. Furthermore, you will participate as a Marketing Core Team Member on cross-platform technical teams, delivering the marketing leadership and support needed to the relevant projects.

You will gradually ramp-up in your responsabilities and knowledge, both in marketing and business. During the first months, you will focus on undertanding the market per country through identifying market trends, analyzing situations, etc. You will develop your skills in terms of customer segmentation, in order to set-up priorities and contribute to the Western Europe Lab Automation strategy. In addition, you will build your understanding of the sales funnel per country, provide support with tenders, profitability requirements and disposable management.

After the first few months, you will participate to a product launch with our European Product Manager, which will include the following tasks:

  • developing a Marketing & Communication plan

  • delivering the training for the new product

  • tracking marketing studies

  • tracking and consolidating country customer feedback

  • executing the launch and tracking the results post-launch

Furthermore, you will contribute to business reviews, provide pre-sales support and disposable forecast tools.

About you:

To achieve the results that we are looking for, we need a degree-level educated professional in Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology, or similar, ideally with prior experience in the Healthcare, Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical industry with a strong technical background. An experience working with customers and collecting user inputs and feedback is desired for this role, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams. Experience in Lab Automation would be a strong asset.

Proactive and strong in planning and organization, you are self-confident and open-minded. A team player, you are able to build relationship and networks through a positive and energizing style and authentic communications. In addition, you show clear customer focus and good business sense with a strategic approach to problems. Other desired qualities include:

• Good understanding of IT

• Good presentation skills

• Fluency in English. A further major European language would be an advantage

• Willingness to travel around 30%-40%
