Job Description Summary

• Serve as the regional business partner for EMEA Supply Chain procurement.

• Partner with global category managers and EMEA Supply Chain to execute global and regional procurement strategies in support of transportation (Air, Ocean, & Ground) & Distribution (Warehousing services) for all EMEA distribution centers.

• Negotiate with regional carrier supply base with a focus on providing superior customer service and continuous cost improvement.

• Oversee RFP execution for all regional procurement initiatives.

• Partner with the Supply Chain and business stakeholders to ensure BD's customer experience is optimized through all elements of our supply chain.

• Facilitate supplier relationship management efforts to ensure issues and opportunities are properly driven to the respective conclusions.

• Provide input to global category strategies and drive regional & local strategy where appropriate for all supply chain categories.

Job Description

BD has acquired Bard in 2017 and as the two firms come together, substantive synergies have been identified. Over the next several years, this role will drive a # of these synergy opportunities which represent a rare opportunity to harmonize and optimize two multi-national company’s supply chains. The types of projects we will be embarking on are transformational in nature and will position BD’s supply chain for success for years to come. It is a unique opportunity to join a firm at the start of this transformational journey. Examples of projects include large scale WMS and TMS software implementations, over the road transportation optimization efforts and a large # of 3PL warehouse RFP’s and expansion projects.

This role serves as a procurement manager across all Supply Chain procurement categories, (LTL, FTL, Air, Ocean, 3PL services, etc.). Global category managers currently define the strategy for a # of categories, e.g. heavy air, ocean, freight forwarding, FTL, LTL, parcel & warehousing. The primary purpose of this role is to serve as the EMEA primary procurement contact to ensure the global strategies represent regional needs and to execute regional strategies where appropriate. The function is mid-way through a maturation process. As a result, global strategies do not exist in all categories, so this role will help shape and execute all projects in support of these categories. This role will be the primary point of contact to execute regional RFPs, tenders, contract reviews, etc. as well as coordination of regional supplier relationship management efforts.

Duties / Accountibilities:

  • Partner with Supply Chain leadership in Europe to execute procurement strategies to support transformational business projects (example, opening new warehouses, contracting with new 3PL providers and enabling new go to market strategies. Execute regional procurement strategies for transporation suppliers (parcel, LTL, FTL, Heavy Air) in partnership with global category managers.

  • Ensure local / regional business requirements are represented in global category strategies, augmenting those strategies and executing on a regional basis as appropriate.

  • Initiate and support regional Supply Chain continuous improvement projects aimed in improving our customer’s experience, improving quality and reducing costs.

  • Support the business in a positive and constructive way at all times.


  • Procurement Experience (10 years)

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Formal category strategy procurement experience

  • Transportation procurement experience (LTL, FTL, Air, Ocean, Freight forwarding), knowledge of markets, terminology, operating standards

  • Warehouse / 3PL procurement experience. Executing RFPs and contracts in support of warehouse / 3PL activities. Developing relationships with 3PLs for continuous improvement efforts

  • IT Software and implementation procurement experience. Lead complex software and implementation sourcing projects.

  • Executing in a large, global matrixed organization
