This role is in Digital Health, a group within BD Diabetes Care (BDDC) which is one of the fastest growing and most patient-connected Business Units with the company. The BDDC business unit is unique in that it focuses on one important disease state which is a threat to world health. The growth strategy includes strengthening our leadership position in diabetes drug delivery devices with cutting-edge technology. As a Staff Software Engineer joining our Mobile Applications team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering key features within our mobile application. You will own significant software functionality and features of our cross-platform app framework.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Be a core hands-on contributor to BD’s mobile digital platform and applications.

  • Be a technical leader, expert resource to product teams, and mentor to junior developers.

  • Work closely with internal and external experts to integrate complex algorithms into a mobile app.

  • Develop a high quality and smooth consumer user interface and experience for all users.

  • Adopt a lean start-up approach to building and testing new product concepts for mobile apps and smart devices. Implement an early feedback loop to enable continuous learning and iteration for ventures, products and services.

  • Continually improve the BD UI framework and its capabilities with a focus on consumer delight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years of experience building quality software

  • 3+ years of experience with Xamarin or combination of native mobile and C#

  • Experience with agile, lean practices and methodologies

  • Hands on experience with mobile application development (native iOS, native Android, or cross platform framework)

  • Hand on experience delivering delightful consumer UI to the App Store/Play Store

Additional and Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a startup-like, fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment

  • Passion for technology and delivering useful and pleasing products to a consumer base

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Results-oriented: Track record of shipping software to end users
