BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Engineering Technician in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland
Job Description Summary
We are recruiting a Engineering Technician on a 3-year FTC to join our team in Dun Laoghaire to provide technical support in the building of new lines and modification to existing lines.
This is standard day shift role.
The Engineering Technician is responsible for the development of new and improved production equipment used throughout BD, along with the upgrades/retrofits of existing equipment and processes.
The development / retrofitting of such equipment requires the following:
Provide technical support to the Site Development Function with Introduction of new equipment, materials, products and processes.
To liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of all current plant performance and production equipment, as well as the fabrication of new and replacement equipment. The Engineering Technician will also be involved in trouble shooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Creating and developing a knowledge directory that will contain all standard operating procedures, set up guides, models, BOM, electrical & mechanical drawings, station specific process flow and development of spare parts list.
Provide Inputs into Equipment Design reviews, ensuring equipment is optimized for safety, quality, automation, capacity and waste perspectives.
Develop a good knowledge of all control systems currently in use including PLC’s, motion systems, vision systems, electrical & safety systems and networks.
Carrying out Knowledge Transfer as part of any equipment installation or transfer activities.
To support any Technology Transfer activities, including planning, execution and production ramp of equipment transfers.
To assist in the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging, process development, and final validation.
Support of above activity through multi-week travel assignments.
The successful candidate will have good knowledge of the Mechanical and Electronic Systems associated with high volume manufacturing equipment and hold a Third Level Qualification in one of those disciplines or the National Craft Certificate together with additional specialised training and experience. You will have the ability to apply a scientific approach to problem solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximise productivity and yields. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative. You will be IT literate and have experience working on MS Office, CAD and SAP systems.
Relevant industrial experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment is essential for this role.
