Job Description

BD, also known as Becton Dickinson, provides pen needles for the care of Diabetes patients globally. The plant, based in Dun Laoghaire, runs 24/7 and is the Worldwide Centre of Excellence for Pen Needle Manufacturing within the BD organisation, producing 4.6 billion medical devices annually. Here we employ approximately 450 people across Operations, Engineering, Quality and R&D.

BD is looking for a highly talented Program Manager to lead all R&D efforts for development of a new drug infusion platform. As R&D Core Team Member you will support the global cross functional platform core team and you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of mechanical, electronic, software, systems, human factors and V&V engineering functions.

You will demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with BD Quality policies and procedures for medical device development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Possess the skills, knowledge and aptitude to engage, influence, and direct the multiple disciplines involved in the development of this electro-mechanical patch pump platform;

  • Develop plans using goals and objectives of the program, identify and leverage related procedures, applicable historical information, and other necessary resources to align program with the expectations of sponsors and stakeholders;

  • Establish and lead Project teams to identify and deliver all required Project activities. Achieve delivery of Project scope, schedule, and budget requirements;

  • Ensure project plan and schedule are created and maintained;

  • Ensure all interdependencies are captured and accounted for in the overall schedule and resource model;

  • Execute project plans (quality, risk, communication, resources, development, etc.) to achieve on-time project delivery performance objectives;

  • Measure performance and progress of all assigned projects using appropriate tools and techniques;

  • Manage and control changes to the project scope, project schedule, project resources, and project costs to keep the project plan accurate, updated, and reflective of authorized scope, budget and schedule;

  • Lead and facilitate stakeholder management by communicating relevant information regarding project decisions and prioritizations;

  • Identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities.

Be Qualified

  • You will have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Management, post graduate training in Project Management an advantage;

  • You will have experience leading large multi-disciplinary project teams;

  • You will have 7+ years’ experience in technical program management with a successful track record of delivering high impact results in large multinational organisations;

  • You will be able to deliver results by inspiring and mobilizing people and teams;

  • You will have a strong ability to network and collaborate effectively with leadership teams;

  • Dynamic problem solver able to anticipate potential problems and create solutions;

  • You will be an excellent communicator with ability to run meetings and workshops (face to face, conference call, Global Connect).
