Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Manager will be the franchise core team lead for the AME function and will be responsible for detailed project management, engineering support and direction of the process development and commercialization of new products, line extensions and provide technical support to maintenance of business (MOB) activities. The manager is also responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating activities of direct reports.

Essential job Functions:

  1. Supports new product development or maintenance of business (MOB) team design activities including:
  • Concept development and PPS input

  • Creation of project plans and schedules

  • Participation in design reviews and design for manufacturability

  • Participation in creation of new product POA's

  1. Plans, coordinates and manages all process development and manufacturing activities required to launch, maintain and commercialize new or legacy products including:
  • Development of all manufacturing methods and processes

  • Coordination of all new tooling and equipment

  • Development and release of all product and process documentation

  • Planning, ordering and management of component inventory

  • Qualification and validation of all new operations and processes including DOEs, validation protocol writing, execution, data analysis and executive summary reports

  • Provides support activity for all of the above items to the plant for MOB activities

  • Coordination and support of all new vendor tooling and molds

  • Supports the plant operations team in providing product cost estimates to new products or product changes

  • Supports the plant operations team with preparation of capital requests (AFE)

  • Provides evaluation of and recommendations for new materials

  1. Plans, coordinates and manages all activities to transfer new products from design to manufacturing including:
  • Development and management of a transition plan and team

  • Development of documentation, methods and labor standards review

  • Development of a component inventory transition plan

  • Facility selection, coordination and site preparation

  • Coordinating equipment moves and installation

  • IQ, OQ, PQ protocol development and execution

  • Validation and training support

  1. Performance Management:
  • Responsible for leading and coordinating activities that involve cross-functional groups

  • Responsible for providing project updates to senior management

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining budgets

  • Responsible for developing, coaching and performance management of direct reports

  • Acts as an advisor to team members to facilitate schedule achievement or resolve technical or operational problems

  • Reviews and approves documentation and checks for completeness and accuracy

  • Acts as an internal consultant for other projects within Davol or Bard

  • Responsible for assigning projects and establishing priorities and responsibilities
