BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Production Leader in Columbus, Nebraska
Job Description SummaryThe Production Leader sets goals, make decisions, and drives accountability toward department objectives in their assigned area of accountability. The Production Leader is also responsible for coordinating the activities of the manufacturing operations. Participate in developing budget information and department production schedule for areas of responsibility. Coach associates to be accountable for safety, quality, production and overall policy adherence. Drive continuous improvement activities in their area of accountability. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to speak, read and write English. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
Leads and facilitates Continuous Improvement (C.I.) activities and programs.
Coordinates the establishment and communication of challenging production goals.
Initiates and drives change to ensure goals are being met. Tracks production metrics in relation to goals.
Assist in developing and managing department budget and headcount levels. Responsible for staffing plans and ensuring associates are trained to perform their jobs and progress in the future, this includes hiring, promoting, rewarding, terminating associates, and setting/managing overtime for the department.
Ensure an open flow of communication exists between production associates and management.
Collaborate with Logistics to establish production schedules, monitor delivery performance versus schedule for the department.
Ensure regular, timely, and accurate assessments of associates are delivered through coaching activities.
Works with associates to resolve issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.

Small Team (1 to 10)
Ensure manufactured products meet the established quality requirements.
Perform job duties to meet operational objectives (i.e. safety, quality, production, waste, etc.)
Effectively supervises and develops others, to help build a high performing operating team.
Exhibits sound leadership, reliable decision making, and appropriate ownership of organizational objectives and results.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
This position has the following educational requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, industrial management, business, engineering or a related field.
5-7 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment.
Management experience with people leaders, hourly production associates and technical associates preferred.
