Job Description SummaryThe Data Management Consultant Provides data modeling and analytics support to a team of biostatisticians and clinical subject matter experts in measuring burden of illness trends, prevalence, national estimates, patient characterization of treatment and timing, forecasting, regional targeting, publications, clinical trial site identification, and clinical and financial outcomes.

A strong background in data analytics is required to be successful in this position. The preferred candidate will possess a broad familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques with prior experience in the healthcare industry.

Job Description


  • Works closely with biostatisticians and clinical subject matter experts to translate complex study requirements into technical and data extraction requirements

  • Analyzes and organizes complex qualitative and quantitative clinical, financial, and administration data from multiple sources, and synthesizes results into meaningful reports and usable datasets for further analysis

  • Regularly conducts research and analysis of clinical data and applies knowledge of data visualization and reporting best practices to prepare ad-hoc and re-occurring reports

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on data quality and availability to support cross business unit data integration and healthcare economics and outcomes research opportunities

  • Develops new algorithmic and analytical approaches to improve processing efficiencies using large scale data sources

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of a data warehouse and continuously improves its validity and effectiveness

  • Develops new ETL processes and systems and improves efficiencies of existing processes

  • Documents activities in the form of business reports, code repositories, internal white papers, and quality assurance documents

  • Aligns work priorities with organizational goals, sets customer expectations on scope and deliverable schedules in a self-directed manner

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's (BS) in Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, Applied Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience, advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience required

  • Expert level understanding of T-SQL. Proven database experience with writing complex and efficient queries at an advanced level.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server services including SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.

  • High proficiency with Python for data analysis, statistical modeling, and/or general programming and automation.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Strong knowledge of applied statistics and modeling. Experienced in data science including the design, creation, cross validation, interpretation and implementation of predictive and machine learning models

  • Knowledge of current issues in the healthcare environment, particularly regarding multi drug resistant organisms, hospital quality measurement, patient safety, outcomes studies, and healthcare administration (preferred)

  • Knowledge and familiarity with healthcare data including ICD, CPT, DRG, HL7, DFT, UB-04, HL7

  • Experience in developing and deploying Tableau dashboards in a hosted server environment

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in CI/CD, automated testing, test driven development

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns

  • Knowledge of web development in Python (Flask, Django)
