BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Clinical Specialist–Infection Prevention in Alberta
Job Description Summary
The Clinical Specialist is a vital partner with the BD Interventional commercial team in the development and messaging of an infection prevention strategy as it relates to the support of our clinically differentiated surgical, peripheral intervention, urology portfolios.
The Clinical Specialist is responsible for supporting customers by applying clinical experience to infection prevention programs, product demonstrations, clinical simulations, and committee presentations. The Clinical Specialist will also be responsible for building a network of clinical relationships to support new opportunities.
This is a field-based position with 50-80% travel. Successful candidate will reside near a major airport.
Demonstrate expert knowledge of products, services, and regulatory requirements to stakeholders in the sales process that positively influence sales opportunities.
Collaborates with sales and marketing team to develop strategies and action plans to clinically influence decision toward new products and services and drive acceptance and satisfaction in multi-site or complex clinical environments.
Creates or improves strategies to optimize product evaluation processes to enhance participation, competitive positioning and outcome and ability to build key champions.
Communicates pertinent voice of customer and observed healthcare trending information to numerous internal departments which help support product quality, service development and customer satisfaction efforts.
Demonstrates ability to present solutions to problems, considering all angles and maintaining awareness of goal to achieve desired outcome.
Demonstrates extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant clinical environments, and BD products/services.
Lead customer centric assessments in single, multi-site and/or complex environments
Serves as lead consultant and resource to internal and external customers in multi-site and/or complex environments
Mentors internal staff regarding best demonstrated practices
What is expected for success in this role?
Lead implementation of the Acute Urology Zero-In Program at accounts, in partnership with TM’s and marketing
Assist with PureWick female external catheter trial/evaluation conversion from a clinical practice perspective
Lead Power in Prevention audits in the OR to determine current and best practice in skin antisepsis.
Assist TM’s with product in-servicing where requested/valuable and provide insight from clinical perspective
Provide clinical support for account conversions/implementations where required
Assist with the development of the patient discharge planning program and implement within key accounts to ensure product usage continuity
Develop relationships with key account internal stakeholders to increase access and trust
Interface with sales and marketing team members to provide clinically-relevant guidance where requested/valuable
Collaborate with US and Global Clinical Team members to stay up to date on best-practices, receive updates on clinical programs and develop relationships within the larger clinical team.
Assist with development of clinical influencer promotion program within the Alt-Site space and provide feedback/support where necessary
Participate where requested in conferences/trade shows to support the sales and marketing team with providing guidance on clinical best practices and addressing clinical inquiries
Licensed Nurse required
Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced or Master's Degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years hospital-based Nursing practice preferred– Manager or Director preferred
Direct involvement with or leading hospital infection prevention initiatives an asset – SSI and CAUTI preferred
A strong background in and comfort level with hospital informatics an asset
Requires ability to travel 50-80% of the time
Should reside near a major airport
Demonstration of excellent communication and presentation skills will be required
Bilingual in French and English an asset
Valid driver's license required
